Classmates

Information Architect

As an information architect at Classmates, I was responsible for interpreting business requirements for a proposed product, then working with the design team and the development team to determine the most efficient and powerful interface for that product, all within the existing Classmates framework. My deliverable for each project was the product's functional specification: page flows, wireframes, and technical descriptions of every piece of functionality. In so doing, I made decisions on what kinds of internet controls would be used, what data would be supplied to and collected from the user, what pages would be required, and how these all interacted with one another to create the most intuitive interface for the user.

Below are example pages from functional specifications which I wrote, for products that are now live on the Classmates web site. All work was done in MS Visio.

Timeline

Launched: mid-2008
The Timeline provides members with the ability to document the important events in their lives, and to then associate those events with the social networking communities they have created within Classmates. Events can include written titles and descriptions, dates and date ranges, and photographs. In addition, the new interface provides members with an streamlined means for adding new communities (the cornerstone of the Classmates environment) to their profiles.

Interest Match

Launched: late 2008
Interest Match offers members the opportunity to find other Classmates with similar interests. The powerful interface visually represents the number of other members within the selected Classmates community who share the highlighted interest, as well as providing links to member profiles and Interest groups within Classmates.
